It’s finally 2019 and the 86th Texas Legislature will be in full swing within the next couple of days! The new THSC Watchmen headed for Austin last week to move into their new apartments and gear up for the next five months of the legislative session.
With nearly every member of THSC’s 2019 legislative team living in Northwest Austin, they will have short commutes to both the Texas Capitol and the coworking space where THSC’s office will be during the legislative session.
What’s First on the Agenda?
The first week involves preliminary work to launch the THSC Watchmen into the thick of the legislative session. To start, the team will register as lobbyists for the legislative session so that they can lobby for legislation benefiting Texas families.
The team is also training on the software used during the session, as well as creating profiles for new and returning legislators. These profiles help the team keep track of contact information for legislative offices and important data related to THSC’s legislation.
This will be the second time that the entire 2019 legislative team has been together. Amidst all of the work that comes with preparing for the session, they will continue to become familiar with each other in the office and during their free time.
