Homeschool parents understand the need for courage. When we talk with new homeschool parents their major concern is “Will I be able to do this?” and also the nagging, “Will my child suffer negative results in any way if I homeschool?”

It takes courage to decide to take full responsibility for your child’s education.

We have heard countless stories over the last three decades of families who faced the choice of homeschooling with fear and trepidation only to rejoice later in the benefits to their children and the blessing to their family. The last two years have seen an explosion of those kinds of stories.

Homeschooling has the potential to reduce stress in the family and is usually a source of joy in the home.

At THSC, we celebrate the courageous families who are taking the bold step of teaching their children at home. We are excited to see what is happening with those families and we believe that it will result in an incredible blessing to our state and country.

I read an article this week by Bari Weiss who left her job as a journalist at the New York Times because there was a toxic environment there regarding those who did not follow the leftist narrative. She has become an independent writer and you can follow her here.

As you can see, she wrote a column on the cultural issues facing our country and draws the conclusion that we face these issues because of a lack of courage that allows a small group to intimidate the whole country. She shared the same message in a CNN interview that has gone viral and you can watch it here.

This reminds me of the famous quote by Edmund Burke, a contemporary of our founding fathers who said, “The only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.” Lack of action against evil is precisely why our country faces the current crisis.

Will we do nothing or will we be courageous?

The data shows that children who are homeschooled are more likely to follow the values of their parents and I believe that this is why the left desperately wants homeschooling to be restricted and regulated by the state.

Thank you for having the courage to homeschool.

I hope you will also engage in our culture by participating in the election of officials from the local school board to the state legislature and U. S. Congress to elect officials that respect and support the fundamental, God-given right of parents to raise their children.

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” -Joshua 1:9

THSC’s mission is to equip parents to raise their children as they see fit. It’s not just about homeschooling your children today, but in teaching your children to grow up to be courageous, strong leaders for the next generation.
