We believe the best defense is a good offense and that Texans should have freedom in their children’s education decisions.
HB 1335 establishes an Education Savings Account Program for disadvantaged and special needs students, including children with disability, victims of bullying, students convicted of truancy, students who have dropped out of school or are at risk of dropping out, or are found to be victims of human trafficking/sexual assault.
The problem of unlawful removal of children has become so prevalent in Texas, a Houston judge recently took decisive action against CPS. It’s not uncommon to hear discussion of “culture wars”—the clash between traditional morality and liberal positions related to public policy issues like abortion, same-sex marriage, and even home schooling and parental rights.
These policy discussions are played out during campaigns when citizens choose legislative, executive, and judicial officials at the ballot box. Mr. Slaton scored high in his beliefs and positions on parental rights, school choice, social issues affecting families.
In the race for the Texas Supreme Court, place 5, there is an ongoing debate about the challenge that Rick Green is making against Paul Green.
Recently I have been contacted by several people who have questioned some of our Association’s endorsements. That is not unusual, but this time we were being questioned about opposing elected officials who we had endorsed in the past. So I thought it would be beneficial to address this issue publicly.
