Congrats to the 2016 North Texas Home School Group Leader of the Year!

North Texas home school group leaders recently attended the North Texas Leader’s Conference.  Along with informative sessions from Andrew Pudewa, Tim Lambert, and David Gibbs III, we had the pleasure of meeting Abby Longley. Chad and Abby Longley of Big Country Home Educators (BCHE) were selected as our 2016 North Texas Leaders of the Year. They received many glowing nominations from the membership and leadership teams of BCHE!

Abby attended our convention with a group of teen volunteers, and they were busy taking part in all the great things at Convention 2016! Abby has shared a little about her family and the leadership role that she and Chad share:

Chad and I were high school sweethearts, and have now been married for 20 years. We have four children, two of whom graduated this May, along with one in middle school and one in elementary school.

We have been home schooling for 10 years, and can’t imagine doing it any other way!

We are currently serving as board vice presidents of Big Country Home Educators, and our family has been helping to lead BCHE for five years. To us, this is a ministry position–one in which our whole family plays a part. We love the opportunity to meet new home schoolers, and help them find the resources that make educating at home work for them. We enjoy trying to create new and fun opportunities for home schoolers in our area. Most of all, we are blessed to be able to spend time interacting with businesses and organizations in our local community, helping to foster a greater understanding and acceptance of families who choose to educate at home. We love to serve, and treasure the chance to work with the awesome families also serving in leadership!
