See why DPS apologized to this home school family…

As THSC prepares for the coming legislative session, three key legislative priorities have become the obvious points of focus for the 2017 legislature.
After a hard fought Primary election in March, home schoolers and parents had a large task ahead of them for the runoff election. Fewer candidates on the ballot mean more effort and more money dedicated to each race by both sides. Although there were certainly a few disappointments, home schoolers and parents ended up with several large victories that will serve them well next legislative session.

Texas Families Meet Together to Discuss Important Issues Introducing THSC ...
In our 30-year history of advocating for parental rights and home schooling, THSC has never been more active than we are today. We gained good ground in the March elections, but we can’t let up, because several critical public offices are at stake in the runoff election on May 24.
It has been truly discouraging the way in which campaign and primary elections seem to go as of recently. At one time, politics and political campaigns were about policy and deciding who would make better decisions if elected to office; however, this does not seem to be the case anymore. It seems that many campaigns spend time spreading stories about the opponent that are either untrue or have no bearing whatsoever on the election. Sometimes these kinds of attacks are made by one candidate toward the opponent, and sometimes they are even made by a candidate’s supporters toward the opponent. Regardless, it would do many people good to get all of the facts before attempting to ruin someone’s reputation. And even more important, Texas voters diligently need to investigate to get the accurate facts behind any story.
6 State Representatives Who Have Been Ruined by House Leadership
In a red state that typically elects a Republican into nearly three quarters of the seats on the House and Senate floors combined, it does not add up that conservative legislation is not passed, even with a legislature that does not need the Democrat members present to conduct business.
If Republicans have the majority in both chambers, why is it that session after session few things seem to really get accomplished? Why is CPS still allowed to run rampant over the rights of Texas families? Why are vindictive in-laws still able to take possession of grandchildren without having to prove that the children’s single parent is unfit to take care of them?

As early voting for the Texas Primary draws near, THSC is reminded of past elections and past promises that were made by past candidates. Numerous promises have been made, and far too many have been broken.
Before the beginning of the 2015 campaign cycle, THSC committed to strengthening the vetting process for interviewing and endorsing candidates. THSC fights every day to defend home schooling and parental rights, but Texas needs legislators who are open, honest, and just as dedicated to this cause as THSC.
A prime example of why THSC is focusing and strengthening the vetting in this primary cycle is Texas State Rep. Debbie Riddle. Despite aligning herself with THSC values and principles in past races, Representative Riddle has begun to trend more and more left while moving closer and closer to House leadership in Austin. In addition to earning extremely low scores on several conservative scorecards in the past, including Texas Right to Life and Empower Texans, Representative Riddle especially betrayed the trust of THSC and many other conservative groups and individuals during the 2015 84th Texas Legislature.
