Introducing your Class of 2023 THSC Watchmen!

It all started a decade ago when Paul Hastings, the Director of Policy for the Texas Home School Coalition (THSC) at the time, realized there was a need for more manpower in the fight for homeschooling rights in Texas.

After the 2012 election, he began gathering a team to advocate for homeschoolers from the state capital. That team would become known as the Watchmen, referencing Isaiah 62:6: “I have posted Watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night.”

Every year since then, THSC has sent teams of homeschool graduates to work as lobbyists and analysts for the legislative session.

This January, a new class of fighters will travel to Austin to continue that tradition, and now you get to meet them!

2023 THSC Watchmen

Meg Aerni

Kara Simmons is a homeschool graduate born and raised in the Dallas area. She was homeschooled her entire academic career and enjoys learning about economics, Christian apologetics, political theory, and American history.

Learning from groups like WallBuilders, Patriot Academy, Prager U, and THSC fueled her interest in government and her passion for protecting homeschooling families’ rights.

Meg Aerni

Raised in southeast Houston, Wyatt Henry is a K-12 homeschool graduate. He is currently attending Houston Baptist University studying international business and finance.

Wyatt is thrilled to be working in the family law arena of the THSC Watchmen while, at the same time, he prepares for law school and makes a lasting impact on the next generation of Texas homeschoolers.

Meg Aerni

Meg Aerni is a high school graduate who was homeschooled for over ten years.

She enjoyed participating in speech and debate, including participation in National Christian Forensics and Communications Association competitions during high school. Meg looks forward to being involved in the legislative process and a part of the Watchmen team!

And the last member of the Watchmen team…

You! Yes, you – THSC Member!

THSC would be unable to fund the Watchmen team without your generous and faithful support during these last ten years of the program. We humbly ask for that continued support and prayers for our whole team as they work hard to serve on behalf of all homeschooling families across Texas.

Stay tuned to all that the Watchmen will do this legislative session by subscribing to the FFC email list in the form below and following on social media as we continue Keeping Texas Families Free!
