Customer Relations Leader Specialist

THSC seeks a motivated administrator with a heart for homeschooling to network THSC with local and regional homeschool groups across the state, offering support and encouragement for group leaders and homeschooling as well as facilitating communication within the homeschool community from the state to the local level. This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours a week during regular office hours and may be performed from home. The Customer Relations Leader Specialist will serve THSC as part of the customer relations team and will work with leaders and support the customer relations team for general support for our audience.

Responsibilities:

  • The Customer Relations Leader Specialist is responsible to develop, administer and grow the THSC homeschool group network also called THSC Partner Group Program.
  • Recruit and manage volunteer teams to aid in:
    • communicating with groups,
    • collecting and updating group data,
    • providing leadership support,
    • vetting new group applications
    • completing various other projects of the leadership support team.
  • Attend any weekly, monthly,or quarterly meetings (online or in person).
  • Ensure leaders receive quality support by hosting webinars to train volunteers and fielding group-related questions via phone and email; equipping new group leaders and consulting with existing group leaders.
  • Website recommendations and updates as needed for leader support and homeschool group pages.
  • Organize, promote and administer the Partner Group Program, offering added support and updating or recommending new benefits for groups that partner with THSC.
  • Proactively build the THSC Partner Group list and ensure information is and remains up-to-date.
  • Organize and administer leader events.
  • Identify the changing needs of group leaders and propose plans to increase or change the THSC Partner Group Program as necessary.
  • Facilitate and/or provide leadership training at various local group meetings where some travel is required.
  • Write and commission the writing of informational, inspirational and encouraging articles for monthly THSC Leader Connect articles and various other THSC publications as needed.
  • Update THSC Leaders’ Guide annually.

Qualifications:

  • Heart for the growth and promotion of homeschooling in Texas
  • General understanding of homeschooling in Texas
  • Experience with homeschool group leadership

  • Excellent communicator, including public speaking and writing
  • Organized and have effective time management skills
  • Attention to detail

  • Be technologically proficient and possess a strong understanding of computer skills and technology (Google drive, project management software, etc.)
  • Team player who works well with all levels of management, team members and constituents
  • Work 20 hours a week during office hours (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
  • Some evening and weekend duties are required when special events occur
  • Possess a computer you can use while working with strong internet access, video capability and a smartphone.

Event Planner

THSC is looking for an experienced, take charge professional with the ability to manage administration and logistics in support of the director in a busy special events environment. Responsibility includes assisting with coordinating approximately 10 events per year, ranging in size from 20 to 5000+ attendees.

Must be able to develop processes, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Candidates should have a love for special event management, a heart for Texas homeschool families, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities include:

Planning and Production

  • Develop processes to accomplish event goals.
  • Assist with negotiations for space contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audiovisual equipment, make travel arrangements, order event signs, and ensure appropriate décor (florals, linens, color schemes, etc.) to meet the quality expectations of the director.
  • Aggressively gather information on each project to achieve quality event productions on a limited budget.
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
  • Prepare nametags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc.
  • Manage on-site production and clean-up for events as necessary.
  • Close out all events as required.
  • Scheduling/composing current event updates for organization website, eNewsletters, eBlasts, etc.

Event Administration

  • Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event project.
  • Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Prepare and modify event contracts as requested.

Qualifications

This is a one-semester or two-semester work-from-home internship and is ideal for recent homeschool graduates, students taking a gap year or college students.

  • Utilize collaboration tools such as Google Drive, Asana, etc.
  • Introduction to CiviCRM and event registration platforms
  • Basics of professional correspondence
  • Learning time management in connection to planning events
  • Working behind-the-scenes on everything from venues and speakers to exhibitors and attendees
  • Learn valuable tips from the Ministry Institute video training series.

Internship Outcomes
