Customer Relations/Member Support Coach – Special Needs Specialist (part-time)

The Special Needs Specialist will serve THSC as part of the Customer Relations/Member Support Team by answering general questions, via email or phone, for both members and non-members while also providing coaching to current THSC members. The Special Needs Specialist will serve THSC as a Homeschool Coach by providing general homeschool support with a specialized emphasis on families homeschooling a struggling learner. We need a motivated individual with experience and a heart for homeschooling who enjoys networking and supporting the needs of homeschool families. This position requires knowledge pertaining to homeschooling special needs children (knowledge of 504, ARD, IEP, and strategies for developing a plan for struggling learners). This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours a week during regular office hours and may be performed from home (some travel required).

What you’ll do:

  • Communicate with team members to provide support within the department to resolve members’ concerns, questions or issues
  • Provide administrative support to the Intervention/Policy Team when needed.
  • Answer calls and emails received from members and non-members, ensuring they are responded to in a timely manner
  • Attend and participate in weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly meetings
  • Work with other departments to achieve success of project implementation and/or launches.
  • Work independently and remote so being self-motivated is very important
  • Provide general and specialized coaching call support for members.
  • Promote THSC membership in communication with members and non-members.
  • Some Travel (night and weekend work) required during special events such as convention support and staff training.
  • Support the educational goals of special needs families who homeschool, or plan to homeschool, with curriculum questions, resources, assist families that want to utilize district services while homeschooling or withdraw from district services in order to homeschool and general problem-solving
  • Support THSC and answer questions on social media.
  • Provide chat support during THSC hosted webinars.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support
  • Review and update yearly processes
  • Participate in valuable coaching, teaching, training, and mentoring with team
  • Optimally bilingual in English and Spanish, but not required
  • Other jobs, as assigned

Essential Phone and Email Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check, answer, and/or direct calls/messages to the appropriate department.
  • Provide information to callers.
  • Thoroughly and accurately deal with problem situations.
  • Connect families with THSC supported resources
  • Respond to queries from the public and customers

It’ll be Awesome if:

  • You have a minimum of 1 year experience in customer relations
  • You are proficient with computer programs, Office, Asana, Zoho,etc.

Key competencies & qualifications:

  • Familiar with the homeschooling laws in Texas
  • Experience with homeschool group leadership
  • Strong networking skills
  • Organized and have effective time management skills, attention to detail
  • Be self-motivated with an ability to work independently
  • Team player who works well with all levels of management, team members, and constituents.
  • You possess a computer you can use while working with strong internet access and video capability

Schedule:

  • Work 20 hours a week during office hours (hours will be set weekly, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
  • Attend any weekly, monthly, or quarterly meetings (primarily online, some in-person, travel paid).
  • Some evening and weekend duties are required when special events occur
  • Travel to THSC Conventions, staff development meetings, as needed. Other events may be offered to work and are optional to attend. Travel is covered by THSC.

THSC seeks a motivated support specialist with a heart for homeschooling exemplifying leadership by demonstrating professionalism and superior customer service. This is a part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours a week during regular office hours and is a work-from-home position. The Customer Relations Support Specialist will be an integral part of the Customer Relations Team by supporting the roles within the department as well as the general support duties that are required to serve the members.

Summary of Role:

The Data & Systems Lead will serve as a strategic leader within the Technology Team, specializing in data analysis, management, and systems integration. This role will ensure data accuracy and consistency across all organizational platforms, lead complex data-driven projects, streamline workflows, and enhance system automation capabilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, superior project management skills, and deep expertise in data management.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Project Management

  • Lead data-related projects from conception to execution, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and technology strategy.
  • Collaborate proactively with departmental leaders to identify data needs, propose solutions, and facilitate decision-making processes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and innovation within the team.

Systems Integration & Automation

  • Develop, implement, and maintain integrations between platforms to streamline data processes.
  • Diagnose and resolve system and data integration issues, ensuring high system reliability and performance.
  • Ability to create/maintain financial workflows through knowledge of payment gateways and basic accounting principles

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop, implement, and refine data infrastructure to facilitate robust analytics and comprehensive reporting.
  • Apply best practices in data visualization and reporting methodologies, advising teams on effective data storytelling.

Data Management & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure accurate collection, interpretation, and entry of data, maintaining compliance with internal guidelines and standards.
  • Leverage advanced SQL skills for data manipulation, reporting, and relational database management
  • Continuously improve database tools and data management practices to optimize organizational effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly, ensuring integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to departments in identifying and defining data requirements, ensuring efficient workflows.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Computer Science or a related field and has proven experience in data analysis, system integration, and database management. Strong project leadership, expertise in automation and data visualization, and familiarity with Zoho Products and Agile frameworks are highly valued. Excellent analytical and communication skills, along with team leadership ability, are essential.
