It is now April and the THSC Watchmen have crossed the halfway point of the 86th Texas Legislature. In the past several weeks, the legislative team has been tracking and testifying on numerous bills that affect the right of families to raise their children.
By testifying before committees of the Texas House and Senate, the THSC Watchmen ensure that Texas homeschoolers have their voices heard in the legislature. Whenever the THSC legislative team establishes a final position on a bill, one of the THSC Watchmen testifies in the bill’s public committee hearing.
THSC been very successful in working with legislators to amend bills that could harm Texas families. In fact, conservative and liberal members alike have been extremely receptive to THSC’s legislative team and any of their concerns.
THSC Partners With Other Pro-Family Groups to Protect Family Rights
Medical freedom is one of the most relevant family rights issues in the media and in our culture today. While vaccines have been a scientific and medical blessing, we must ask who should be making such medical decisions for families.
Politicians and the media too often call on the government and medical professionals to make vaccine decisions for families. In our fight for freedom, THSC firmly believes that families have the right and responsibility to make their own medical decisions (including vaccine decisions).
Our team recently attended an event at the Texas Capitol hosted by Texans for Vaccine Choice. THSC President Tim Lambert spoke to the attendees. THSC also regularly partners with other pro-family groups such as Texas Values, Texas Eagle Forum, Concerned Women for America and the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
Upcoming Public Hearings
The THSC Watchmen spent a significant amount of time preparing testimony for public committee hearings on several bills. They coordinated testimony against House Bill 575, coordinated testimony in favor of THSC’s Child Trauma Prevention Act (House Bill 3331) and coordinated testimony in favor of THSC’s UIL Equal Access Bill (House Bill 1324). All of those bills are being heard in committee this week.
