It is now May and we have entered the last month of the 86th Texas Legislature. The THSC Watchmen have worked diligently throughout the whole session to keep pro-family reforms moving through the legislative process.
All three of THSC’s priority bills have been heard in House committees and one of them, the Child Trauma Prevention Act, has been voted out. The other two bills, UIL Equal Access and the Family Unity Act, are awaiting committee votes and will hopefully receive those soon.
The team in Austin has also been successful in amending several bills that would have threatened the right of families to raise their children, including the right to homeschool.
With plenty of support for each bill in the Texas Senate, the team has worked all session on moving bills through the Texas House, the deciding factor in whether each of THSC’s priority bills will live or die.
Although this is the last month of the legislative session, stay tuned, a lot can still happen.
