AUSTIN, TEXAS: On Friday, August 30, 2019, the Texas Home School Coalition, along with a bipartisan group of 22 legislators and five statewide organizations, filed an amicus brief in support of the Pardo family with the Supreme Court of Texas (SCOT). The following legislators signed the brief:

The amicus brief supports a petition for mandamus filed by the Pardo family’s attorney last week. The petition to the SCOT follows closely on the heels of a viral video about how Drake Pardo was illegally removed from him home on June 20. The video garnered more than 2 million views in two weeks.

The brief asks the TX Supreme Court to end the months-long trauma suffered by the Pardo family after Drake was illegally removed from his home. The egregious nature of the case has received national media attention and generated more than 35,000 petition signatures asking Gov. Abbott to prioritize reforms to protect other families from suffering similar abuses.

Five prominent statewide and national organizations also signed the brief asking the SCOT to send Drake Pardo back to his family: Texas Eagle Forum, Texas Pastor’s Council, Grassroots America, Texas Values, and Concerned Women of America.
