The UIL Equal Access bill (HB 1324) received a hearing in the House Public Education Committee on Thursday, April 4, 2019. Nearly 30 people went to the Capitol to testify for this bill!
Fifty-six people registered in favor of the bill, 27 of whom testified and personally asked the committee to pass it.
Testimony was given by many homeschool students and parents who shared their personal stories and experiences to demonstrate how this bill would help them and families they know.
We had an amazing hearing overall for the UIL Equal Access bill, thanks to the many homeschool families who drove to Austin from all over the state to support this legislation. The bill is currently pending in the committee, awaiting a vote that will send it to the House floor.
If you agree that homeschool students should be allowed to participate in UIL (University Interscholastic League) extracurricular activities, please sign our petition for the UIL Equal Access bill.
