Dear homeschool family,

If you are like me, the last few weeks have been something I never expected. Growing up in the great state of Texas, I had never seen empty shelves at the grocery store or experienced the amount of uncertainty that could cause such a tidal wave of unexpected effects.

Through it all, I’m thankful for my family! It’s not so bad to be stuck at home with people you love. :) But most of all, I’m blessed to be a child of God. He is good. He is able to redeem. I’ve seen Him do it before and I know He’ll do it again.

Here at THSC, we believe that raising children is a family’s God-given right and calling.

We believe in empowering parents to raise and educate the next generation of leaders.

We believe that a loving family home is the best environment for children.

We believe that homeschooling is one of the best models for educating children.

And we believe in keeping Texas families free.

These five truths are the catalyst behind everything we do. You, our Texas homeschool families, are the reason why our team tirelessly works to help Texas remain one of the best places in the world to homeschool your children.

Because we love spending time with homeschool families, it saddens us to announce that we are postponing our 2020 Called To Teach Homeschool Conventions in Allen and The Woodlands.

The CDC’s new guidelines about large events will remain in effect during the Allen Convention and with The Woodlands event so close to when the guidelines are tentatively scheduled to be lifted, we have made the difficult decision to postpone both events until next year.

Special Offer for 2020 Called To Teach Convention Attendees

Although we are sad to postpone events that we have hosted for 19 consecutive years, we are excited to make a special announcement.

Over the last weeks, we have watched the homeschool community explode! Never before have we seen so many families at once make the transition to educating their children at home.

As we prepare to welcome them into the Texas homeschool community, we are also eager to continue support for our longtime homeschoolers here in Texas.

Many of you consider Called To Teach Homeschool Conventions a big, wonderful family reunion packed with encouragement for the year to come. We don’t want you to miss that experience this year.

We’re pleased to announce that although we can’t meet in person this year, you can still have a practical and inspirational convention experience online through our partner organization, HomeschoolSummits.com!

Homeschool Summits will present three online conferences in April and May, and as a 2020 Called To Teach attendee, you can receive immediate, lifetime access to all three events with the ability to view and review the workshops whenever and as often as you want!

Right now, there are amazing opportunities to advance the cause of homeschooling and families in our state, and we are working on reaching out to the families affected by the coronavirus to offer support, guidance and encouragement.

How are we planning to serve unexpected homeschool families?

We are launching a brand new homeschooling during COVID-19 website and a support Facebook group! We want to encourage and guide these new families as they face challenges they weren’t expecting. Most of us had time to make a decision about homeschooling while they largely feel unprepared. Let’s show them how great homeschooling can be! Feel free to join the Facebook group and share from your experience.

As much as I will miss visiting with all of you at Called To Teach, I am excited about the opportunity we have to take part in the wonderful HomeschoolSummits.com online conventions. I know you will be blessed, equipped and encouraged!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

We’re here to help and eager to serve our homeschool families during this time.
