Homeschool Community Calendar

Texas Home School Community Calendar

The THSC Event Calendar is a free service to home schoolers in Texas. We hope you like it. It is designed to help home schooling families, friends, and support groups take advantage of educational opportunities of interest to you.

For event sponsors: Your event venue must be in Texas and have a specific appeal to home schoolers. All submissions are moderated by THSC. If you don't see your event posted three business days after submission, please contact the Moderator at staff@thsc.org. Thank you for your submissions and interest in supporting Texas home schoolers.

Click on the “Events in” button to select a particular month to view. Click the “View as” button to view events by month or as a list.

Note: Please do not list events that run for extended periods. Events running for more than 3 – 5 days (depending on event), will be edited or will not be published. If you would like to promote a long-running event, such as a class or a camp, please list the opening and closing dates for registration or enrollment separately. The recommendation for actual class dates is that they should be listed in the event description, not in the date field.

TCI: Urban Forest Connections

June 25 - June 27

TCI: Urban Forest Connections will take place from June 25-27, 2019, and will examine the role that forests play in the environmental, economic and social well-being of Texas cities. Daily field trips led by local resource professionals will examine the unique ecology of Austin’s forested areas as well as the human impact on the environment.

Teacher Conservation Institute (TCI) is a summer professional development camp for teachers and other educators interested in learning about Texas forests and the benefits they provide. Sessions are open to all classroom teachers, non-formal educators and other adults interested in teaching youth about forestry and conservation education.

At each session, participants will experience a combination of hands-on activities, classroom-style sessions and field trips led by natural resource professionals. Sessions in classroom planning are led by professional educators and Project Learning Tree facilitators. Project Learning Tree curriculum will be provided to all workshop attendees and is equipped with fun, engaging activities that align with state standards and that inspire their students to think critically and creatively about complex environmental issues. It helps teachers translate their TCI experience into something that they can use in the classroom.

For registration cost and continuing education credit hours, please visit TexasForestry.org/educators/Teacher-Conservation-Institute, call 1-866-TXTREES, or email us at plttexas@texasforestry.org.
