"What I Have Learned About Home Schooling"

Often parents look at home schooling as a temporary pursuit rather than a lifestyle. In her article about lessons she learned that changed her vision of home schooling, Lydia Eubank tells some of the things she learned that changed her from the former kind of parent to the latter.

Even when things do not always go the way you would like ...

What Home Schooling Has Taught Me

Home schooling is not always only a matter of what we teach our children. Parents often learn many things as well—about themselves, their families, priorities, and the subjects they teach.

Getting Involved

Public Relations: Be Ready To Answer

Home schoolers often find themselves the objects of criticism. It is good public relations for us to have a reasoned response with which to state the case for parental choice in directing the education of our children.

Your Civil Bullet

Remember that children learn the example of their parents. “Now would be a good time to gather your children around you for a quick civics lesson.” Read this article by Don Stroud and learn how to participate in the process and protect and advance your freedom.

Texas’ Independence and Texas Home Schoolers

THSC president Tim Lambert shares the parallels between two great Texas bids for freedom. Learn how home school parents made history and won the right to educate their children.

Are You Ready to Be an Oarsman?

Do you see things that “should be different” in your support group or things that “should be done”?  Consider that this may be the beginning of your calling.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEXAS HOMESCHOOLERS

THSC Patrick Henry College Scholarship

In keeping with its mission to serve the home schoolers of Texas, Texas Home School Coalition (THSC) has established a scholarship fund for Texas home school graduates who attend Patrick Henry College.

Good Citizenship Program

Texas students at home must use a curriculum from any source that covered the “basic educational goals of reading, spelling, grammar, math and a course in good citizenship.”  Rather than simply citing dry statistics and flow charts, parents can help their children learn through a hands-on method by taking part in actual governmental processes.

Your Civil Bullet  Remember that children learn the example of their parents. “Now would be a good time to gather your children around you for a quick civics lesson.” Read this article by Don Stroud and learn how to participate in the process and protect and advance your freedom.
