With one century in its backpack, the Boy Scouts of America is considering a new and controversial amendment to its age-old values: allowing homosexuals into their leadership.

From the Scouting Website

“Currently, the BSA is discussing potentially removing the national membership restriction regarding sexual orientation. This would mean there would no longer be any national policy regarding sexual orientation, and the chartered organizations that oversee and deliver Scouting would accept membership and select leaders consistent with each organization’s mission, principles, or religious beliefs. BSA members and parents would be able to choose a local unit that best meets the needs of their families.”

BSA leadership is polling the public to find the answer to this dilemma. Because of scouting’s importance to home school dads and their sons, it is imperative that the home school community stand behind the wavering leadership and push them to reject this compromise of principles.

Scouting is a rare, boy-oriented, and rich resource where scouts gain discipline and a variety of skill sets through earning merit badges and rank advancements. They also gain leadership experience as they elect, or are elected, into troop offices.

As one home school graduate and Eagle Scout said, “Boy Scouts gave me an environment to practice and pursue integrity. It rounded me out as a person and gave my dad and me a door to a plethora of rare opportunities like leadership and problem-solving experience as well as challenging high adventure trips.” It is not a surprise that two of THSC’s Watchmen are Eagle Scouts.

Perhaps most importantly, scouting sets a clear standard for manhood. The Scout Oath and Law state:

Scout Oath: On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

By applying pressure to some of scouting’s top donors, the liberal left is seeking to take possession of our young men.

Should BSA’s leadership crumble under that pressure, home schoolers will lose one of the oldest and richest resources fathers and sons have.

The BSA Board is voting on this amendment February 5-6. Please contact the scout headquarters and oppose allowing homosexual men leading our young men:

Contact the BSA national office through their website contact form.
