When a deputy, during the course of a CPS investigation, repeatedly asked questions regarding a member family’s home schooling, THSC clearly explained the legal responsibility of CPS investigations regarding home schooling under Texas state law. THSC reinforced that the courts of Texas have affirmed that families teaching their children at home are private schools, and, as such, are not regulated by the state.
